Description

Safer® Brand's powerful diatomaceous earth formula works as a bed bug killer to eliminate these nuisance pests from your home! This pest control formula is ideal for ant control, cockroach control and as earwig, silverfish, cricket, millipede and centipede control.

The Safer® Brand Ant and Crawling Insect Killer utilizes diatomaceous earth (AKA silicon dioxide) which includes a bait formula that kills insects by ingestion/dehydration within 48 hours. Our D.E. is made of crushed fossilized algae from freshwater sources. This fine powder is soft to a human’s touch, but is very sharp to insects. Once insects crawl through or ingest the dust, it pierces their exoskeletons causing them to dehydrate and die. Works indoors and outdoors when kept dry. Also comes in a 4 lb bag for many applications. OMRI Listed® formulation.

Insects cannot develop a resistance to D.E. since there are no chemicals to which they can build up an immunity. If the area where the Diatomaceous Earth is applied becomes wet, it will need to be reapplied. Diatomaceous Earth is effective as a bed bug killer, flea killer, and crawling insect killer.

But BEWARE.... all Diatomaceous Earth is not the same. Safer® Brand Ant and Crawling Insect Killer Powder with Diatomaceous Earth is made from amorphous diatomaceous earth, known as silicon dioxide. This particular type of Diatomaceous Earth is derived from fresh water sources and is NOT the same as Diatomite D.E. which can be derived from unnatural sources.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TO Florida Users -- Ant Control w Diatomaceous Earth Can't imagine why diatomaceous especially the natural form wouldn't work with ants even in Florida, but its crawling insect control properties must be renewed once the product gets wet. So, in highly humid conditions it could be challenging to use. So, I have a tip that worked for me in San Pedro, CA (in an area just north of Point Ferman, north of the new high school in that area) -- I used Stevia. For a $6.45 bag that then lasted me a year in my tea and smoothie drinks. I sprinkled Stevia out of the bag liberally in the backyard area where the ants' nest appeared to be located. Voila! No more ants through the rainy season etc. This terrible infestation in the backyard that moved into the kitchen and bathroom during summer weather times -- that commercial pest control companies had failed to eliminate -- has not reappeared for at least 5 years now. Stevia application didn't effect the family's pets -- dogs, cats, turtles and other animals that inhabited or walked through the backyard either. I suspect Stevia had the same effect on the insects internal system as diatomaceous earth is described as having (search Wikipedia for "diatomaceous earth") without human respiratory backlash. A win-win! Now, if I could just find a natural solution to the very smart mouse that runs thru my living room each night around 10:30 pm. Cheese in the spring traps, and sticky plastic trays, as well as the Vitamin K pellets have all failed to eliminate this very potentially destructive and dangerous rodent. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ant Killer Product arrived safe and sound. Easy to apply. Too early to know its effectiveness.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work! I litterally put this around an ant bed in the yard; days and even weeks later the ants were still trucking along. I was hoping this would be a good natural way to deal with the ants in our yard, but was very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, that puts my mind at ease. I work in a field where I have to conduct home visits. With the many scares about bed bugs, it's nice to know I have something to help to keep them out of my home , if I unfortunately come in contact with a customer who has them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked a little bit, but not well enough for me I used this and it killed some of the fire ants, but not nearly enough. I bought 2 other brands, and the fire ants are now GONE!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work It didn't work at ALL. Not one single ant was killed! I would have been better off using boiling water, and much cheaper. Though in it's defense, I believe I have super fire ants. I've seen then carrying away my dogs toys and playing catch with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from does work, be patient D/earth does work. It just takes a day or two. It does work on adult ants, contrary to some posts. The biggest downside is using it outdoors as it washes away.
