FAQs

Lyric® Fine Tunes Wild Bird Seed - FAQs

Q: What is "no mess bird seed"?

A: No mess bird seed is a seed that's been processed to remove the outer shell or hull of a seed. Many people who feed wild birds prefer no mess seed because there is far less waste to clean in the form of leftover hulls. Additionally, hulled seeds will not germinate later on and create a weed patch under your feeders. Without their protective shells, the seeds inside degrade too quickly.

Q: Do birds prefer hulled bird seeds?

A: Generally, they do. When a seed is hulled, a bird can eat it more quickly. It also expends less energy to do so. That helps a bird focus its strength on other activities including staying warm in the winter and nest-building in the spring.

Q: What's the best time of day to watch my bird feeders?

A: Song birds are most active in the morning. That's when they visit feeders the most so they can recharge after a night without food. Consider this blend the morning song bird seed mix! It's the perfect pick-me-up!
