Looks great but plate rusts.Top hanger bad design. By JCCJ
I bought this feeder about 3 months ago. The bottom plate is already all pitted and rusty. It looks great otherwise. I also had to install a laminated wire to replace the metal hanger that attaches to the feeder top. The hanger would keep the top on but it had to be bent to secure the top of the feeder. Bird food tends to cake on the rusty tray especially after a rain. I would not buy this again.

Very poor construction By KFMandziuk
The only reason I am giving this feeder one star is because it is in fact easy to switch the portals for the types of seed. Otherwise I have found that the base tabs that hold the tube onto the bottom tray & base are not big enough to hold the tube on resulting in the tube coming off the base & spilling the seed.
Also, the top & wire handle are not securely attached to the plastic rod resulting in the feeder coming off the top & falling to the ground, again spilling out the seed. If I don't hang it but put in on a post the feeder will stay connected to its top but the tube will come off the base in the wind.
I am not happy with this feeder at all.

Not good quality product By KathyM
The only reason I am giving this feeder one star is because it is indeed easy to change the feeder ports from thistle seed to other seed. I filled it & hung it in my tree. Within 1 day the feeder was knocked onto the ground by a squirrel jumping onto it causing it to swing. The hanging wires holding the top came off post attaching the top to the feeder. The bottom does not fit securely into the plastic tube so the bottom fell off the feeder emptying the seed onto the ground. Definitely not worth the money!

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We are sorry to learn that the feeder was damaged by a squirrel. To prevent squirrels from gaining access to the feeder, we recommend hanging it at least 5 feet from the ground and 10-20 feet from the nearest launching point.

Using a squirrel baffler above the feeder can also deter them from jumping onto the feeder. Our products are covered under a one year warranty for replacement. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance.

Poor Design By JMALH
I bought this at home Depot several weeks ago. It's pretty but the top comes off and the feeder with all the seed falls to the ground because the wires are not curved enough. This morning, the bottom had fallen out and all the seed fell to the ground.

looks nice but deceiving By SaraM
This metal one keeps in too much moisture and causes the seed to mold. This design looks nice. The top comes off easily. Overall, wish I would have bought the plastic one instead
Response From Perky-Pet®
Susan : Consumer Relations Representative
Hello Sara,

Mold can occur after heavy rain plugs the feeding ports and allows water to dampen the seed. We recommend cleaning, drying and refilling feeders after heavy weather. Another helpful tip is to place 1/4" of cat litter in the bottom of the feeder to absorb excess moisture.

We apologize for this experience and hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) with any additional questions.

Top / Handle useless By cheriw
I bought this feeder to replace one with plastic ports that was destroyed by a bear. I liked that the metal ports would also discourage squirrels from chewing them. Nice looking, but the top and handle are completely useless. As soon as you take hold of the hanger, the entire top comes off and the wires pop out of the little plastic bar that holds it to the feeder. to refill- you have to grasp the tube & even then, when you try to life the cap, it comes off completely and you have reposition the wires into the small holes before you can hang it again. Bad design, the only reason I've kept it is because the squirrels leave it alone

Bearproof! By Lizziegirllizzie
To be honest, I bought it for the look of it. Also, it's not really bear proof; it just survives their extremely successful attacks! After a half dozen or so of these bear attacks; where the feeder was grabbed between powerful teeth and torn down, I would call it bear proof! The tube is crushed together and you can see teeth imprints. But each time, the plastic tube pops back into circular shape with no crease lines! The copper metal Bird perches also snap right back in. Looks just as good today as when I got it 5 months ago. I love it so much, I got a second one!

Not so great ! By Gill
First : After just a year the metal plate start to rust.

Second : Can get it apart easily, as advertized. Its a pain in ... to do it.

Third : If it rain, Water gets in and get trap with the seeds, and mold can start to grow on it. which is very bad for wild birds.

"They can die from those molds"

Recommendation : Before you buy a bird feeder, try to assemble it and disassemble it. If its hard to do, don't buy it.

The finch love this feeder By Finch feeder
The finch love this feeder much more than the all plastic similar feeders. I have had both and this metal feeder is used much more than the other ones. The finch use the bag feeder almost as well but they certainly love this one.
Response From Perky-Pet®

Q&A
Q.Hi, What are the dimensions for this feeder?
A.

The height of the feeder is 16.25" with the wire hanger extending approximately 4" above the top of the feeder. The diameter of the tube is 2.5" and the base is 7" in diameter.

Q.How do I take this feeder apart for cleaning ? The base used to have 2 screws but now it doesn't. It looked like it comes apart as it has all kinds on crud between the tube where it connects to the tray.  Help.
A.

To remove the base of the feeder for cleaning, we recommend taking the bottom two seed ports out first. To do so, push up on the port until the bottom of it releases and is able to be pulled out. Then, firmly hold the base of the feeder (not the seed tray) and turn clockwise. Two tabs in the base will slide out of the slots in the clear tube, allowing the base to be removed.

Q.Having problem putting the top on feeder to hang it back up
A.

To close this feeder, slide the copper lid down the hanging wire and onto the plastic tube. If the hanging wire has become unattached from the feeder, hook the two bent ends into the holes in the copper colored rod across the top of the feeder.
