Perky-Pet® Premium 23 Inch Heavy-Duty Bird Feeder-Antique Copper Finish

Bird Watching at its Best

Built to last, this nearly indestructible Perky-Pet® Premium 23 Inch Heavy-Duty Bird Feeder with Antique Copper Finish provides years of bird-watching enjoyment. The weather-resistant feeder's transparent polycarbonate seed tube is strong and contains a UV inhibitor to prevent yellowing, while its powder-coated die-cast zinc ports, cap, and base offer protection against squirrel damage.

This Premium feeder with Perky-Pet® Lifetime Limited Warranty comes equipped with four patented rotating ports that can be easily turned and set to dispense either thistle seed or mixed seed. Even more, each port provides an offset, bird-preferred, U-shaped perch, which allows birds to dine comfortably and encourages return visits. Best of all, it offers a 360-degree view, so you can delight in watching your bird visitors from any angle. This Premium feeder attracts chickadees, finches, juncos, kinglets, and nuthatches to redpolls, siskins, sparrows, titmice, woodpeckers, and wrens.

Easy to Fill and Use

This Premium 23-inch heavy-duty bird feeder holds up to 1.8 pounds of black oil sunflower seed, peanut chunks, thistle seed, safflower, or mixed seed. Once filled, hang the feeder then watch as a variety of feathered friends fly in to feast from 6 feeding ports.

Suggested Placement

Fitted with a sturdy stainless-steel hanging wire, this feeder can be securely hung near a back deck, porch, patio, or in your yard. It can also be pole mounted. Choose a location that not only provides a great view, but that is also bird friendly. Birds prefer an open space, so they can easily move from one feeding port to the next. They also like to be in a location that gets both sun and partial shade during the day. An ideal location will be between 5 and 8 feet off the ground and within 15 feet of nearby coverage, like bushes and shrubs, so birds feel safe and protected from predators.

Cleaning the Feeder

Keep this bird feeder clean and filled with fresh seed or feed to ensure return visits. Perky-Pet® recommends checking this bird feeder once a week for insects or mold and cleaning it at least every two weeks with a mild soap and water solution.

Elegant Design

This Perky-Pet® Premium heavy-duty bird feeder offers sleek, sophisticated elegance and comes in a variety of stylish finishes, including Antique Copper, Midnight Black, and Hunter Green. A thoughtful gift idea for the bird lover on your list, the Premium feeder makes a charming addition to any garden, backyard or patio.

My back yard belongs to my dogs, but my front yard belongs to me, and I have several gardens and feeders there; this is by far the best feeder I have. It's solid, easy to manage, attractive, and very versatile- because the feeder holes are adjustable.THE GOOD:+ Solid and heavy... although it's summer now I imagine that it will withstand bad weather+ SIX feeding ports with perches, so I often have more than one guest hanging out at a time, which I love+ Ports are adjustable - they rotate so you can control size of the hole (and therefore tailor it to your preferred seed)+ Clear tube so you can see your feed level easily+ Looks nice in the front garden+ Handle is also solid-feeling; manages the weight of naughty squirrels who hang on+ Easy to manage: comes assembled, easy to understand the rotating ports, easy to fill if you've ever filled a tube feeder before (ie use a funnel!).BE AWARE:- No squirrel baffleBOTTOM LINE: A quality feeder, should serve your winged guests well for a long time

The Perky-Pet Premium Heavy-Duty Bird Feeder is just that. It's weather resistant, squirrel proof with rotating ports. Good for sunflower seed, mixed seeds, and thistle seed. Stainless Steel hanger, solid construction.U-shaped offset perches. Instructions suggest a cleaning every two weeks. (Does anyone really do that?) Website for more information www.birdfeeders.com

The best reason to appreciate this feeder is that the birds like it! I hung it up and had birds using it within half an hour. So far, it's been largely chickadees and junkos and none of those stupid and loud magpies! I think the perches may be too small for magpies. Magpies have dominated every other bird feeder I've tried. It's nice to see the little guys have a chance. The feeder was a bit hard to fill, and at first I spilled seeds everywhere. Slowing down and pouring a smaller stream of birdseed solved that problem though I suppose a funnel would have done the same thing in less time. Now that it is full and hanging, the only thing getting seeds out is the birds. We had a good coastal wind yesterday evening, and I watched specifically to see the feeder's response. The feeder did quite a bit of dancing, but a negligible amount of seeds fell out.I like that this feeder is covered. I haven't seen it deal with rain yet, but I think it will handle that well as the main chamber has a tight lid and the perches have tiny covers. I'll come back and update after a rainstorm. At first, I wasn't too crazy about the appearance of this bird feeder. But, upon hanging it up and watching birds flock to it, I've changed my mind. The simple design puts the focus on the birds and doesn't get caught in tree branches the way that some of my fancier bird feeders have.

Make no mistake, this is a huge feederRequires modest assemblyAt close to 2 feet long, it will hold a lot of seedComes emptySquirrels can and likely will eat from itIt's supposed to survive the wrath of squirrels, but time will tellThus far it hasn't let me down, and the birds immediately took to it. I'm not 100% sure of its long term survival, as it doesn't feel indestructible, but for now it's as good as new. I'll update this review as needed.

This feeder is amazing! I've always had little cheap plastic tube feeders and while they took care of our multitude of sparrows, they fell apart or broke regularly, spilling seed everywhere. This heavy-duty feeder has 23 inches of thick polycarbonate tube and the other parts are sturdy powder-coated zinc. The tube holds nearly two pounds of seeds and the six ports are complete with strong U-shaped perches that larger birds can handle. The port openings rotate so that you can adjust an individual port opening if you want to layer different kinds of seed for different species of birds. For instance, you can adjust for a few inches of mixed seed, topped by peanut chunks topped by sunflower seeds. The possibilities are endless and the ports are solid and easy to work. The top has a big U-Shaped hanger that made it simple to hook onto the chain on my eave. And it's very easy to open the top to pour in more seed. (We do use a wide funnel for that.) The bottom opens for easy cleaning. When we hung this, we kept one of the cheap feeders up to see what would happen - the birds, mostly sparrows, prefer this, possibly because it doesn't swing wildly to and fro when a dozen of them are winging in and out grabbing seed.I absolutely love this feeder! Highly recommended.

The direction I have decided to take with this review is a little bit different. I agree with the other reviewers that this is a sturdy, tough, easy to maintain bird feeder. But I would like to present this review from a little bit different perspective. If you recently have moved into a new house or a new apartment with space for something like a bird feeder much like the Perky-Pet featured here I would highly recommend that you go ahead and pick up something like this. This is a new experience for me, but it really is so enjoyable to look out the window and see the birds come in to eat for their dinner. I know this might come across as kind of archaic, or out of touch but as I have been using this bird feeder certain birds are kind of becoming my friends. I will often tell my wife, "Look that old robin is back" or "look honey, a blue billed raspy throat." (I don't really know any other bird types. I am just starting here.) It is very pleasant to end your day with quite reflection at the window feeling companionship with a fine feathered friend. This is something new for me and I think you would really enjoy feeding the birds as well. Pick up a bird feeder and find some new friends.

This is a nice size bird feeder hanging down about almost 2 feet, so you'll need some space to hang it from the stainless steel hanger. It's under 2 lbs but heavy enough to not completely fly around in the wind. The polycarbonate material is clear and is supposed to keep from yellowing.I think it would make a nice gift for a bird lover, someone who has everything, or at an office gift exchange. It's lovely.

This is a cleverly designed bird feeder. There are 6 feeding ports that rotate so you can use a variety of seeds, from larger seeds like sunflower or small thistle seeds. The feeder is long and narrow, measuring about 23" in length. It feels very lightweight and I am hoping that this will deter the pesky squirrels (although it is not advertised as being "squirrel-proof"). So far, I have not seen them on it although they do get on another feeder hanging close to it. Because of the narrow design, they might have a problem holding on to this one. Although the instructions say to fill the feeder from the bottom, I had difficulty removing it so I just poured the seeds in through the top which was easy. I have had the feeder hanging on an archway over our breakfast nook window for about a week now and it is almost empty. I have noticed mainly smaller birds feeding at it, like chickadees and goldfinches. The feeder is advertised as being very durable. The tube is made of strong plastic so it will be interesting to see how it holds up. I have had good luck with Perky-Pet products in the past and this one looks like another winner.

Loses one star because I couldn't figure out why they want you to fill it from the bottom. The top removes easily . The bottom was a struggle and the top kept falling off as I tried to open the bottom. That said it's well constructed, solid and sturdy. The birds appear to like it . The squirrels appear frustrated, which is a good thing. Recommended!

It's big, holds plenty of seed - if you fill it completely it will last you about a week depending on how many birds you get. It's sturdy and looks good. The U-shaped perches are perfect for the birds. Since putting this up I have seen an increase in the number and variety of birds visiting my yard.
