Perky-Pet® Red Mason Jar Glass Hummingbird Feeder is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 91.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice.......but....... I love how these feeders look but after a while the gray paint comes off the screw on base and it begins to rust. Stick with the glass and plastic type, it will last longer,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed. I bought two of these feeders hoping they would resist the AZ sun. I am disappointed because both of them started to rust. It seems that the feeder part cannot be replaced, which is disappointing. Either use material that doesn't rust thru the enamel or sell this part as a replacement

Please test products on the hummingbirds first! It's beautiful and it attracts them but they leave confused and hungry. This was the first humming bird feeder I have ever purchased. So sad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Paint peels off glass and rust, birds hate it I got this in June, the birds hate it but not even that matters as I can't even get the thing apart now it's rusted shut, and the red paint peels off the glass jar. They should say that it's painted. I did not keep the receipt AND WOULD REALLY LIKE A REFUND OR ANOTHER FEEDER THAT WILL NOT RUST THAT HUMMING BIRDS WILL FEED FROM

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Birds don't like it! Bought this feeder about a year ago and for a few days the birds drank from it. Soon there were no birds coming to it. I took it down and got a different one. Last week I gave t to my neighbor to try. Today she told me that she can see the feeder from her window and one of the Humming Birds got it's beak stuck in the feeder hole and had a terrible time trying to free it self. I think I now know why they stopped coming when I had it hanging up. Perhaps that wasn't the first time one got his beak stuck. So disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Having to modify design. I like the fact that the jar has a large mouth for easy cleaning. I don't like the fact that the bail fits so close to the jar. I had to add a hanger to go over Shepard hook. The bottom leaks where the two pieces fit together, my husband had to build a gasket to go between the pieces to keep from leaking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy Hummingbird Feeder This is the first hummingbird feeder that I have bought in the last 2 years that is easy to clean and doesn't leak or (at least so far) attract wasps and bees. I wish only that the two metal parts would screw together to better avoid leaks.

Q&A

How can I keep the inside of the base from rusting

Asked by: sweety
The base is powder coated for rust resistance so this should not have occurred. We do not recommend adding any products to the base as it could affect the hummingbirds. With regular weekly cleaning this will help to prevent any rusting as well. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance with the feeder.

My hummers will not have anything to do with this feeder, when I disassembled to change food and clean I found the water full of red paint flakes and water yellowed. I will clean and try again.

Asked by: Glick
These feeders have gone through a finishing process and they should not peel. For cleaning, we recommend adding a handful of uncooked rice and water to the reservoir and shake. The rice will go to the hard to reach areas of the feeder.

I just bought this feeder last weekend and now within an hour of putting food in it, there are dozens of dead ants floating inside.  How in the world are they getting in there and what can I do to keep them out?

Asked by: carolfbird
Ants can be surprisingly resourceful and may climb up a hanging pole and down the wire to gain access to the sweet nectar. To prevent a feeder full of ants, we recommend using our Ant Guard (model 245L) to repel them from the feeder.

Do you sell a plastic dish that fits the mason jar on this feeder? The metal one has rusted and I would like to continue to use the feeder.

The base is one piece and does not come apart, however it has a wide opening for easy cleaning.
