Hang or Pole Mount
This transparent 16-inch squirrel baffler can be hung or pole mounted. When hanging the baffler, it blocks squirrels from above. The included hooks have the strength to hold up to 50 pounds. The top hook attaches the baffler to a tree limb or other hanging location, while the bird feeder hangs from the second hook located underneath the baffler. Most squirrels will descend the wire to the baffler and give up. A more persistent squirrel may put its weight on the baffler in efforts to access the bird feeder below, but after climbing onto the baffler, it will quickly tilt, sending the squirrel down to the ground (startled maybe, but uninjured). The hanging baffler has the added benefit of partially protecting bird seed from rain and tree debris.
When placed on bird feeder poles, this baffler prevents squirrels from gaining access to the bird feeder from below. Squirrels may try to climb up to the feeder, but they won't be able to get around the baffler. To pole mount this baffler, simply lower it over the top of the pole and screw it into place. About a foot below the feeder works best. Everything needed for either hanging or pole mounting comes included: a 16-inch-diameter transparent shield and all hardware (2 hooks, 1 baffle hub, and 3 screws).

I bought this yesterday and after the third attempt, the squirrels were on the feeder below. I tried every conceivable height, but nothing deterred the squirrels.Date published: 2016-08-19Rated 1 out of 5 by SquirrelsareNutsinMN from Squirrels broke in within a week! I tried everything prior to this Baffler. These squirrels almost gave up on my feeder, but not quite. It seems as though they called in a professional to do the job. He actually broke the heavy plastic hook in half (like you see in the photo). Not sure if it ate threw it or clawed it, but it was broken in half. I can't tell you the $$ I went through to keep squirrels out of my bird feeder. I give up and throw in the towel! I thought after seeing so many fail to get at this, I'd actually found the perfect product. Nothing, nowhere is squirrel proof apparantly. And people say animals are stupid? I wish I had had a camera on this to see how it actually broke. The only evidence was the fat and happy squirrel laying next to it on the ground so full he couldn't move.Date published: 2016-08-17Rated 4 out of 5 by outaboutred from mixed bag I bought two of these feeders, you have to stay on top of the springs as they get stuck on the metal (due to persistent squirrel attacks) The system does a great job shutting out the squirrels from the opening where the seed is available, but with the weight of the squirrels hanging on the system they were still able to eat through the plastic at the very base and create their own permanent openings. Not a bad system but needs some work. I still have one hanging out back after one full year and it is holding up wellDate published: 2016-08-09Rated 1 out of 5 by StephJ from Clearly NOT squirrel proof I just bought this feeder last week and within 2 days the squirrels figured it out and chewed through the plastic on the top. They broke ALL the springs so it's in a permanent down position. The bird accessibility holes are now permanently closed. The springs are so badly damaged that I can not put it back together. No. Bueno.Date published: 2016-08-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Hootie from Goodbye to squirrels We have an abundance of squirrels, when we first hung this feeder a couple tried to get to the food, but did not succeed. Now they don't even tryDate published: 2016-08-01Rated 5 out of 5 by Bevie from Great product. Love the bird feeder, have yet to discover if it is really squirrel-proof, but so far so good!Date published: 2016-08-01Rated 5 out of 5 by mar2650bro from Works against squirrels I already have had this feeder for years and years. Yesterday it broke and I am buying this same feeder from PerkyPet. It really works well. It attracts lots of birds, mostly small birds. It is made of metal so it is durable. It works keeping the squirrels away. One day I saw a squirrel jump on top of it and immediately the cage pushed itself down [spring-action unit] and closed off the feeding openings. The squirrel immediately jumped off of it. It is lightweight, easy to fill. I love it.Date published: 2016-07-23Rated 5 out of 5 by Becky Lynn from Awesome Feeder I had had it with wooden feeders. The squirrels demolished them. I ordered this feeder and I love it. Yes the squirrels tried to get in it. But no success! No more old black birds and few blue jays, they run off the other birds. I am now getting more smaller birds. And what else I love the feeder holds 8lbs. I think by this winter I will order another one.Date published: 2016-07-20

We were given an old feeder by a friend. It has about 2 inches of dried up old bird seed at the bottom of the feeder. It won't break up and it doesn't seem like the bottom comes off the feeder. What is the easiest most efficient way to clean this?We recommend soaking the feeder in warm water and mild soap to help soften and break up the bird seed.Date published: 2016-06-15
