Hang or Pole Mount
This transparent 16-inch squirrel baffler can be hung or pole mounted. When hanging the baffler, it blocks squirrels from above. The included hooks have the strength to hold up to 50 pounds. The top hook attaches the baffler to a tree limb or other hanging location, while the bird feeder hangs from the second hook located underneath the baffler. Most squirrels will descend the wire to the baffler and give up. A more persistent squirrel may put its weight on the baffler in efforts to access the bird feeder below, but after climbing onto the baffler, it will quickly tilt, sending the squirrel down to the ground (startled maybe, but uninjured). The hanging baffler has the added benefit of partially protecting bird seed from rain and tree debris.
When placed on bird feeder poles, this baffler prevents squirrels from gaining access to the bird feeder from below. Squirrels may try to climb up to the feeder, but they won't be able to get around the baffler. To pole mount this baffler, simply lower it over the top of the pole and screw it into place. About a foot below the feeder works best. Everything needed for either hanging or pole mounting comes included: a 16-inch-diameter transparent shield and all hardware (2 hooks, 1 baffle hub, and 3 screws).

Strongly advise hanging on a strong metal shepherd's hook type pole, away from things that squirrels can jump from. Also, use coconut oil or similar substance on the pole to keep the squirrels off. However, the lubricant will weaken and the critters will get on the feeder. Given the capacity, the feeder doesn't require frequent refilling - the avian critters love it.Date published: 2016-09-13Rated 1 out of 5 by DavidF from Feeder is not the least bit squirrel proof. Feeder was decimated by our squirrels. Inhale two that I plan on nailing back to the manufacturer. The squirrels first chewed off the top sprung that holds on the lid to keep the bird seed inside the feeder. Then they proceeded to check the plastic sides so that the see just spills out from the feeder. Do not buy this feeder it is not squirrel proof and a waste of money.Date published: 2016-09-09Rated 3 out of 5 by Nicole from Screws didn't fit When attaching the baffler using the screws, I had to use a drill because of how tight the holes were! Not sure if it was just a one-off manufacturing glitch on the one I purchased, but it was a bit of a hassle.Date published: 2016-08-30Rated 1 out of 5 by Bizzer from Terrible This feeder last 3 months before the squirrels figured out how to gnaw away at the metal lip below the opening. Once that was gone they chewed inch long holes into the plastic and well its a smorgasbord for them now if I fill it. The design idea is good but the inner tube needs to be made of glass or a tougher material than plastic.Date published: 2016-08-27Rated 5 out of 5 by Nancyhas12cats from My birds love it !! I really like this bird feeder but the squirrels have found a way to hang upside down on it and still eat the bird seed. But my birds love it !!Date published: 2016-08-27Rated 4 out of 5 by Jean V from squirrel-be-gone birdfeeder Love this feeder; I had one of these before and used it for years; drawback was that the springs work so well but eventually rust and breakDate published: 2016-08-26Rated 1 out of 5 by Skipp from Nice concept, doesn't work It worked for about five minutes. I bought this yesterday and after the third attempt, the squirrels were on the feeder below. I tried every conceivable height, but nothing deterred the squirrels.Date published: 2016-08-19Rated 1 out of 5 by SquirrelsareNutsinMN from Squirrels broke in within a week! I tried everything prior to this Baffler. These squirrels almost gave up on my feeder, but not quite. It seems as though they called in a professional to do the job. He actually broke the heavy plastic hook in half (like you see in the photo). Not sure if it ate threw it or clawed it, but it was broken in half. I can't tell you the $$ I went through to keep squirrels out of my bird feeder. I give up and throw in the towel! I thought after seeing so many fail to get at this, I'd actually found the perfect product. Nothing, nowhere is squirrel proof apparantly. And people say animals are stupid? I wish I had had a camera on this to see how it actually broke. The only evidence was the fat and happy squirrel laying next to it on the ground so full he couldn't move.Date published: 2016-08-17
How do the squirrels still get at our bird food? When they land on the feeder it closes like it is supposed to, then they move it around somehow and it opens while they are still on it. Then they reach in and help themselves.Thank you for sharing this unusual experience. If the squirrels are gaining access to the seed, we would recommend adjusting the weight tension of the springs. Also, relocating the feeder so that it hangs at least 5 feet from the ground and 10 feet away from launching points such as fences, decks, branches, and rooftops may help deter the squirrels.Date published: 2016-10-25

I wondered why the seed wasn't going down for several days. Today I took a GOOD look at it and saw that the ?baffle? that comes down and blocks the feeding entry's hadn't gone back up. Is there any fix for this? It's only a few months old..If the metal cage has not sprung back up with no weight on it, we recommend checking to see if it is caught anywhere along the feeder. We also recommend checking that all of the springs are secured into the cage.Date published: 2016-09-28
How do you put the top back on the feeder.337. After filling with bird seed? The lid and knob at the top can be untwisted from the feeder and removed as one piece. The lid would twist back on in the opposite direction it twisted off.Date published: 2016-09-28
