Rated 2 out of 5 by from needs improvement have purchased several of this particular type feeder and the concept is great but after a few uses, the nectar leaks out between the area where the two pieces of the bottom snap together. This problem makes the cost expensive for the use of sugar Would be perfect if that area could be redesigned in some way to prevent the leaking. I tried to use a rubber band around the bottom but it didn't want to stay in place.when the two parts were snapped together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attracted MANY MORE birds! Bought two to replace the broken ones at the Hillcrest Park Zoo. The old ones attracted one or two birds, which was great. The new Perky-Pet feeders attracted MANY MORE BIRDS!!! So exciting for our visitors! When one was vandalized, I called to get replacement parts. They sent us a replacement feeder for FREE!! Singing their praises to anyone who will listen! THANK YOU!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Brilliant Design! This feeder, without a doubt, is the most brilliantly designed hummingbird feeder I've ever used! Top filling with no leakage! This feeder was designed by a true physicist. I carefully disassembled mine to see how it worked. The base of the upper reservoir has a pinhole outlet that is sealed or opened by a movable float. When syrup in the base gets low, the float drops; this allows liquid to flow down through the pinhole from above. Inflowing syrup then raises the float, which in turn re-seals the pinhole to stop the flow. Very clever! The secret is the float in the base is large enough in surface area to overcome the hydrostatic pressure of liquid in the upper reservoir, which is trying to force its way down through the tiny area of the pinhole. The float system works even when the top reservoir is full to the brim. This is just a brilliant idea, and I hope the person who designed this feeder gets paid very well. The feeder is completely leak-proof. Adding syrup is a snap -- just unscew the top and pour it in. The flowers are soft and flexible. Both the base and the upper reservoir disassemble for very easy cleaning. Best of all, my hummingbirds love it. The only suggestion I could make to improve the design would be to move the perches a couple millimeters farther away from the flowers so that the birds would have a bit more room to perch. Thank you, Perky Pet, for the cleverest feeder I've ever seen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazon Review We've enjoyed this feeder...and hummingbirds seem to too!It was easy to assemble. The instructions were clear, but the process and pieces are self-explanatory enough that I'm sure it could be done without the instructions.Filling the feeder is nice and easy. This is our first hummingbird feeder so I can't compare it to other feeders, but the top fill design is intuitive and easy.Using the feeder is a breeze too. We have a hung on a feeder hook in a fairly windy area, but it doesn't drip and birds seem to feed from it without issue. One thing to note: despite the picture of the filled-with-red-liquid, this feeder doesn't come with any hummingbird feed mix. Perhaps that's standard with such feeders, but we were a little surprised. However, we found mix recipes online and those have sufficed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazon Review Perky Pet Plastic Hummingbird feeder is exactly as pictured and easy to open, fill and hang. The whole feeder is plastic and can be hung just about anywhere. There’s no question about how easy to use and set up this feeder is. With the wide “mouth” opening for ease of pouring the sugar water into, the no spill or drip ensures less mess and worry for ants and the bright colors are just right to attract Hummingbirds from all around.Growing up we had a feeder somewhat like this one and it’s nice to have this one now hanging in our backyard so the kids can enjoy watching the birds feed. If you are looking for a feeder such as this one, you’ve found it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazon Review I generally prefer glass feeders simply for the quality, but this one seems to be just as good. A big bonus is that my young son can help me because I'm not nearly as afraid of him dropping and breaking it! My birds love it, and the wind isn't too much of an issue until it starts to get really empty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazon Review I love watching hummingbirds & am more careful where I place their feeders since one, in a group of three that came several times a day together to feed, flew into our picture window & eventually died from the accident. How sad. Although the feeder was at least 6 feet away from the window, when the group was done eating, they tended to fly towards the house, then up over the roof. The little fellow flew into the window. He was stunned but eventually flew away. We never saw him again. The other two always came without him. So be sure to position your feeder/s in a safe place for the little hummers. This Perky-Pet feeder fills from the top. I don't have to use a funnel to fill it which is nice. I was concerned that the nectar would spill out of the flowers when I carried it through the house, but it didn't. I always carried the other feeder upside down to prevent drips. This one can't be carried that way so I was glad nothing leaked out. This feeder doesn't have bee guards...I wish all hummingbird feeders came with them. In the hot month of August the yellow jackets get testy in this area. I expected them to be swarming around this feeder & they did when I first hung it out, but they haven't bothered it since. So I don't know if the design makes it hard for the yellow jackets to get to the nectar or not, but at least they're not bothering it now.As far as the water moat in the lid keeping ants out...well, the water is going to spill out when the feeder blows in the wind, & it's shallow so it will evaporate away quickly too. I'm not expecting the moat to keep the ants out.Even with a couple negatives, this is a nice feeder. Be sure to keep it clean & rinse thoroughly. Do not leave any soap residue at all. Cleaning with a tiny brush is a good idea too. Something like this should work: SE - Brush Set - Mini Nylon, 4in., 5 Pc - TC01NChange hummingbird food frequently...every 3 to 5 days is a good estimate. It goes bad quickly in hot weather & might need to be changed more often. Run hot water through the feeder before adding more nectar & be sure to clean it more thoroughly every 1 to 2 weeks. I think the base is a little hard to disassemble, but stick with it. Be sure to take it all apart and clean thoroughly. You don't want to make the hummers sick.I make my own nectar. 1 part sugar - 4 parts boiled water. Boil the water, then stir in the sugar until it dissolves. Store in the refrigerator. I never use food coloring in the nectar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazon Review This is a hard plastic bird feeder with a lid that screws off so that you can fill it from the top. I don't know why they aren't all like that!It appears sturdy and is as attractive as a plastic feeder can be. The yellow flowers are actually soft and rubbery, as are the flower middles where the birds drink from. The feeder does leak a little bit if it is tilted sideways. That should only be a problem if there is a lot of wind, though.
