Response from Consumer Relationship Team:
We am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with this feeder. Here are some steps to help resolve the leaking.
This feeder requires a vacuum to be created in order to prevent gravity from pushing the nectar out of the ports.
Push the bottle portion of the feeder down.
To create the vacuum, fill the feeder entirely to the top with water first to test the seal.
Once the feeder is filled completely (to the point where it will start overflowing) immediately screw the cap back on.You want to do this as fast as possible to help prevent air from entering the feeder.
After the feeder is filled, carefully pull up on the bottle of the feeder, allowing the nectar to flow into the ports.
If these steps don't work, we are here to help you more.
Hummingbirder top fill feeder commercial June 16, 2010
Reviewer: ckdthomas
I brought two of these feeders and this commericial help me realize that I may have been using it incorrectly. I didn't understand the push pull portion of using it. I now have to go home and actually refill mine using the push pull method. I was wondering why I didn't seem to be getting many hummingbirds this year...they probably couldn't actually get to the food.
I do have one problem with the commercial. They are using the red dye food, but in all the research I'd done on attracting hummingbirds, it says to NOT use this red stuff. Its better to make your own using 3 parts water and 1 part sugar. The red dyed h-bird food is not good for them.
Shame on them for not knowing this before making the commerical.
