Okay...these traps are very very good...but there are additional facts that must be told and known by those who intend to do this: FIRST, it is imperative to weigh down the traps from the top so they are not tipped over by frightened critters. SECOND, it is imperative to place the trap on something solid like a spare wood plank, as entrapped critter will reach out and frantically dig into the dirt that may surround them, bringing the dirt into the trap and causing a major mess. THIRD, and perhaps MOST IMPORTANT is the fact that CHIPMUNKS MUST be carted MORE THAN FIVE MILES AWAY as they will do ANYTHING to find their way home. FOURTH is the fact that CHIPMUNKS will do ANYTHING to find their way home even if they are carted away at TEN miles ! They will DIE in the process of returning home as they are NOT known to succeed at better than a FIVE MILE distance. FIFTH, is the fact that most CHIPMUNKS will die of heart failure if left entrapped for approximately THREE HOURS !!! SIXTH to know is therefore, there is NO kind way to capture and release these little fellas...they will either return or die trying...so ??? What can we do to rid ourselves of them without feeling guilty about having killed these cute little flea infested germ carrying pests ? Knowing all the details about CHIPMUNK behaviour makes trapping them alive FAR more cruel than sending them back to God as quickly as possible, which I haven't yet done...but am seriously considering; after all, who's in charge over the animals ?

I bought three types of traps and this was the best! I then bought 5 more of Havahart for a total of six and I caught a mouse in each one the very first night!
