Great product April 28, 2013
I've had mine for over 10 years. My beagle liked to dig under her kennel fence. I put this around the base and she stopped after a few 'pokes'. I would recommend this to anyone who has a problem with a dog digging holes under fences.
My friend had a dog who liked to climb out of his pen. He bought a few insulators and strung the wire along the top of the dog's pen. When the dog got to the top and touched the wire he would jump back down and finally stopped climbing.
Fixed the ONE problem with my dog!! October 23, 2011
I have a very well behaved 100lb Lab. The dog is fantastic across the board except for when I put him in the dog run while I'm at work. The dog constantly kept getting out. He would chew the bottom of the pickets off to the horizontal board they were attached to, then dig out. He tore up at least 30 boards. I stacked rocks against the fence...he dug out. I cemented the bottom of the fence...he dug out. I replaced pickets...he dug out. I said it was our other 9 year old bull terrier that was talking him into it!! I've worked at a small hardware store for 2 years and have sold this product to customers...NEVER had it crossed my mind to use it for me own. Finally I had my epiphany and kicked myself for not thinking of it sooner! I bought some plastic insulators and nailed them to the 4x4 posts going around my dog run about 7 inches off the ground. Wired the controller up and put the dogs out. Within two minutes my dog made his way for the "usual" escape spot...BAM! He yelped like a sissy and ran into his dog house.........Needless to say, I have no more holes under the fence! Great product at a great price. The shock isn't too bad, I personally tried it. I touched it with my fingers and was surprised to find it not too bad at all. However, if you get on all fours and do it...(Yes, I actually did this!)...it packs quite a punch! The dogs learned really fast, as in one time. Highly recommend it. Installed 100 ft in about 35 minutes.

I had a new chain link fence installed to contain my lab. Smart lab found out that she could still get out going under the chain link right between two support poles, at the base of the fencing. Enter the Fido Shocker. We used an outside porch light which had two bulbs. Removed one bulb and installed a piece from the hardware store that looked like the threaded end of a light bulb, but was an electrical outlet. This is where we plugged the charger in. We ran the wire around the base of the fencing, inside the yard. When the back porch light was on, the fence was hot. The dog touched it with her nose twice. It made her yelp. Then she decided it was easier to just remain in the yard. Well worth the money. Easy to set up in a short amount of time. My husband touched it to see how strong it was. He warned me not to touch it, because he felt is was strong enough it might bring tears to my eyes, so I never touched it. When we moved, we took it all down, put it in the box and I still have it, but have not needed to use it since then. It works!!
Great for protecting screen July 03, 2011
I bought this unit to keep my dogs from ripping up the screen in my sunroom and digging under my fence. Other than the rip made by one of them jumping the wrong direction when he got zapped my screen is intact. No hole under the fence either. Great product!

Great product to keep the racoons away from fish pond December 31, 2010
I bought this 5 years ago, works great to keep the raccoons away from the fish pond when wire is set every 4" apart (in every pole hole). In the beginning I had however smaller ones still entering the pond despite the electricity. After a while the raccoons learn the lesson and you can even cut the power and they still won't enter.
Great for keeping raccoons away October 15, 2010
I have had this electric fence around my fish pond for 10 years now. It keeps the raccoons from going after my goldfish and chopping my waterlilies to shreds. I have it on a timer to run only at night.

Very easy to install. 15 minutes out of the box. I now have 3 110 lbs dogs that are afraid to go near any galvanized wire.

I bought one of these 13 years ago, to keep a dog out of my garden. I'm on a new dog, but the same old fence charger. I've replace everything but the charger over the years (wear and tear, taking the fence down and putting it back up every year) but have never had a problem with the unit.
You can use any wire you want with the charger unit. I've got mine hooked up with the cheapest galvanized steel wire I could find at the hardware store.
You can use any kind of post as long as you insulate the wire from the post. I did it by snipping little rings of plastic tubing and threading the wire through those, which I attached to bamboo stakes with plastic zip ties. At the end of the season, I just pull up the posts and coil the wire up, posts and all. Makes setup a snap the next year.
This thing works great for deer. I have one wire, a foot off the ground, and it protects my garden all summer. I bait the fence each spring by putting peanut butter on aluminum foil and folding it over the wire, so that deer don't just step over it without touching it. Anyway, I've watched deer grazing at the plants growing under the wire, then zap! The deer runs off. Two or three days after I turn it off in the fall, the deer come in and clean up the leftovers.
The dog only zapped herself twice, once each spring for the first two years. Now she acts like the garden doesn't exist.
I hang my unit on a post out in the garden, run an extension cord to it, and cover the whole thing with a plastic bucket to keep the rain off.
A non-contact circuit tester is a handy way to make sure it's working. (Or you can do it the hard way!)
Anyway, I love the product, and it has stood the test of time for me.
Great product March 17, 2010
I bought this exact kit 5 years ago and it works great. I have 4 dogs that would get out of their outside kennel any way they could, put this up and they stopped. They were scared for the first few days, but they got over it.
They haven't gotten out since we put the electric fence up. Now, we've actually had the fence turned off for 3 years now, but we still have the wire up and they still don't go to the edge.
