  Perfect Finnch Feeder
Reviewer:

I just received 2 of these feeders. The birds really love them, and I love the fact there is no plastic that gets clogged and is hard to clean. I would highly recommend these feeders!

This is a fantastic feeder. The mesh is solid and chew proof and the mesh is too fine for large birds and squirrels to use, so you only find small songbirds on this feeder. Both the top and bottom come off for easy filling or cleaning, but attach firmly so that squirrels cannot get inside. One of the most clever aspects of this feeder is that, as it empties, the nyjer seed stays distributed vertically within the feeder so that birds can feed along the entire height of the feeder right up until the point that it is empty. I've seen eight birds on this simultaneously, but the comfortable limit seems to be five birds. Even though this feeder has birds feeding on it most of the day, I've only needed to refill it every 5 weeks.

I ordered this item at exactly the same time as a Woodlink Mag2 Magnum Thistle Feeder. They came in the same box and holding one in my right hand and one in my left it was a night and day difference. The No/No Feeder weighs triple what the Woodlink does because the metal screens are heavy duty and solid as are the cover and the bottom seed catcher. You can pick up the no/no by the screens and they will not budge; if you try to hold the Woodlink by the screens they will cave in because they are so thin.

I have 3 thistle feeders on the same post. Hands down the birds prefer the Kaytee Sock feeder the best; that's their first choice. Second Choice is the no/no. I am trying to move out of the sock feeders because they drop tons of seed with no bottom catches, but my customers, the finches, will eventually decide whether I can eliminate the socks all together. While I await their decision, I'm certain I will get many seasons of use out of this No/No Feeder. It's the highest quality bird feeder I own.

Update 6/2/13: Within a few days the birds began to move to the no-no feeder. I pulled the socks altogether and routinely have a dozen or more finches fighting for a perch on the no-no. I have to refill it every other day or more. Do they have food stamps for birds? The thistle is going to cost more than my mortgage if they keep eating at this rate!

We wanted to attract gold finches and house finches and this feeder does the trick. It is not unusual to see six or seven on it at one time. It's large enough that it doesn't have to be filled everyday. I much prefer to see the birds clinging wherever they want to rather than fighting over the four perches available on many finch feeders. The drain holes in the tray are very tiny, so all water does not drain through, the tray does need to be cleaned off from time to time. It is sturdy metal from top to bottom. A good buy.

I like the fact that it works for the finches who like to cling to the feeder as well as the sparrows who can feed from the tray below. I'm sure this saves a lot of seeds from being wasted. Easy to fill and keep clean.

Awesome product, saves money because you dont get damaged/torn socks like the material ones. The finches love it! It can be filled easily too.

Reviewer:

The size of this feeder allow multiple birds to use it at the same time. Also the size allows you to put a large amount of seed that will last a while. The design helps the seed to distribute more evenly.

Reviewer:

I like this feeder. It took a while for the birds to notice it, but it strictly limits to only finches. The finches aren't gluttonous either. I still haven't had to fill it and it has finches on it every day.

Reviewer:

My only suggestion is to put more or larger holes in the platform, as it does collect water. Otherwise, a sturdy & attractive to the birds feeder.

Like the different levels for access, drainage is good.
Needed to crimp the top and bottom pieces for a tight fit.

Works awesome. Had about 15 birds on it at one time. Have to fill like every other day. Will tell others about it.

  Finch Feeder - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

This feeder holds plenty of food and due to the open seed, it stays fresh. Doesn't seem to be much bird activity though. Hopefully that will improve.

Love this finch feeder! - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

I ordered this not knowing how cool it was to have so many finches feeding on one bird feeder all at one time! 20 plus!
Very easy to fill and looks great in the yard! Love it!

It's hard to tell at a casual glance what makes birds like or reject a feeder. I had a little metal nyjer feeder with a perforated cylinder from Walmart hanging for months, and never saw a single bird on it. I hung the GBF00340 in the same place, right next to my sunflower seed feeder, and now it gets more than half the traffic - it's mobbed all day long. I'm mystified as to why there should be such a difference in acceptance, but you can't argue with success!

FINALLY Found my Finch Feeder! - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

Tried many, but this one's great! No waste when filling, but birds seem to get the seed out easily . . . I have 19 finches feeding right now! Am going to order one more of these. Good price for great quality! Thanks.

Great Design, Highly Recommended - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

I've owned numerous feeders over the years, and this is the best finch feeder ever. The design and quality are excellent. There are no feeder holes to worry about and House Finches, squirrels, Mourning Doves, Jays, etc. don't show up and bogart all the seed. The American and Lesser Goldfinches love it. Buy one-your goldfinches will peck on your windows and chirp thanks.

Excellent feeder increased my bird traffic
Reviewer:

I ordered this feeder to replace an old plastic tube thistle feeder that had its posts break off due to sun damage over the years. This new feeder is a vast improvement over the old one.

The metal construction will last for years. The completely open design of the "feeding screen" allows birds to latch on where *they* want to, rather than by preset post positions. This allows birds to move around at will and accomodate others. The open design also allows the seed to fully dry after a rain event in order to prevent seed from remaining damp and welcoming mold.

Since I have used this new feeder, I'm going through seed twice as much becuase it is more popular now and the birds prefer this better design. The family and I love seeing the increase in bird traffic.

Inside the feeder are funnel sections which help keep seed more evenly dispursed in the chamber (a clever design). However, when you fill it up with thistle seed some will initially fall through the screen and on to the main platter, but this is minimal and not a real concern.

I don't have squirrels in my area (open fields) so I can't speak to that, but the platform allows other birds to enjoy thistle to left on the platform.

Enjoy!

This nyger feeder arrived quickly and well packed. Over the years I've experimented with many many kinds of feeders, and I do like this one. It's attractive, interesting, holds the seed well, and the finches are using it.

Reviewer:

The sturdy wire mail-mesh and the removable metal top and bottom plates of this feeder aren't the only things that set it apart from other feeders. The column of thistle seed becomes segmented through clever internal baffling so that birds can cling on at all levels until they empty the feeder. This is a great advantage over ordinary hole-in-the-side-with-a-perch types. After studying the new feeder with suspicion for a couple of hours the pine siskins swarmed it seven or eight at a time with room to spare. The lesser goldfinches are now beginning to use it, too, with an occasional challenge from the siskins.

It's not likely that this feeder will be dislodged or damaged by raccoons. Cleaning it will be simple since the top and bottom plates can spin off of it yet should hold securely in use. Another "No No" brand feeder I bought at the same time, much larger, is also excellent. These feeders are better than any others I've ever seen at many stores.

  Great Feeder - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

I have a yard full of yellow finches and love watching them. I previously had a sock type feeder that they loved but the woodpeckers were tearing them up in no time and the replacement socks were way too expensive. I purchased this in hopes I'd keep the woodpeckers from tearing apart another one. It took several days for my finches to get used to this feeder but they now love it. The woodpeckers are still trying to get their share but they are not able to tear this one apart. I've seen several chickadees feeding at it also. It's good for all types of clinging birds. I've found that more than just the finches enjoy thistle and sunflower chips! I highly recommend this feeder.

Reviewer:

This is a great finch feeder for the following reasons: It has attracted so many more finches since I gave up the tube type feeder because I can see the finches really like to cling rather than perch. Okay, I highly recommend going the extra mile and buying a plastic dome type cover for it also to keep the rain off the feeder and tray, but if you're serious about having lots of colorful finches in your yard, it's worth it. The feeder should be allowed to empty out occasionally and get a sudsy well-rinsed washing for the birds' sake, but that's me. Only con I noticed is once I didn't screw on
the top properly and the bottom seed feeder fell off so you probably need two working hands to screw it on, but it isn't hard to make sure the top is twisted in correctly. I am definitely going to buy a couple more for my yard after having different types of finch feeders as I think this one is great.
Also the seed does seem to last longer not spilling out through the steel mesh, and I also like the fact that there is seed left at the sides and top while it empties due to its design.

Wish I'd found these years ago - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

I now own 3 of these finch feeders and would never use a different one. I love the metal construction. The birds instantly started feeding from these as soon as they were hung. I have finches, chickadees, juncos, woodpeckers and even sparrows at these. They are easy to fill, and easy to clean. I have had other tube feeders that break or have the holes pecked out, that will not happen with these. A great product.

Reviewer:

The feeder is a hit with the birds! Its easy to refill. We like the mesh style since it holds up
better than the clear tube models, birds don't seem to peak it apart. This feeder not only feeds
multiple Goldfinches at one time but also multiple other variety of birds and they seem to be happily sharing simultaneously. The tray at the bottom also catches seed and allows the Mourning Doves and Juncos a place to perch and pick up seed. It is longer than other feeders so we did move it from our old feeder's location.

Reviewer:

I've gone through several thistle socks and a thistle feeder before buying this. The thistle socks wear out quickly and the other feeder spilled too much thistle. This is a bigger feeder that doesn't spill as much. I counted nine birds on this feeder at the same time. I can wait 2-3 times longer before refilling.

  Amazon Review
Reviewer:

I really like the solid mesh walls of this finch feeder, as well as the 2-level concept. When you
fill the feeder from the top, the seed falls through to both levels. Between the bottom tray, the 2-levels of feed, all metal contruction, this thing is great. The only drawback I have, is the mesh holes are just slightly too large for small nyjer/thistle seed. But once you fill the seed, if you rub your hand up and down the chamber a few times to knock out the seed poking through, it seems to lock the seed in place rather than fall through the holes as you move it to its hanging location.

Reviewer:

Exactly as I was expecting...feeder is simple to use, easy to refill and
easy to clean (not me however, I doubt I'll ever clean it) but for those who do clean their bird feeders, this one is simple. Well made, no breakable parts...a very good value.

  Amazon Review
Reviewer:

Excellent construction and should hold up well once the finches start feeding from it! Although squirrels do not care for the seed, suggest using an inexpensive baffle overhead to protect it and the seed somewhat from the weather. The item arrived quickly; professionally packed and shipped.

Reviewer:

When half-full, this feeder still allows birds better access to the Nyjer than the more common--and cheaper--finch tube feeder. It also drains much better in extended rainstorms. The reasons I didn't "love it" include the fact it tends to spill more seeds when filling it vs the usual tube feeder and that one must be careful after filling to ensure BOTH the top and bottom have been secured properly.

  Amazon Review
Reviewer:

Have had different finch feeders in the past and none have attracted as many as this feeder. It does also drain well which is critical. The only complaint and it is minor is that the top and bottom both will come off. (for cleaning and/or filling). Its like a turn and lock kind of system. When it's locked, its not real secure and it takes little or no effort to twist the bottom or top which sometimes has caused me to loose the food when feeding or hanging. I'll mess with it and try to tighten this. Otherwise, I would HIGHLY recommend!

  Amazon Review
Reviewer:

Pleased with this feeder, however it does not hold quite as much food as I expected from pictures. Quality of product is great and I do like the way it is filled by removing the bottom so it always is cleaned out. Would purchase again!

Reviewer:

Overall this is a good feeder. We now have a flock of 100-150 pine siskins that mob our thistle feeders. We also have goldfinches (winter plumage) and house finches when they can muscle their way past the siskins. This one is the best because the siskins seem to prefer the angled sides.

Surprisingly, this one holds more seed than a larger straight sided mesh feeder. The inside baffles help provide alternate feeding spots, for a while. The siskins drain it so fast that it doesn't make a lot of difference.

We also have the spiral feeders - but they only have a few holes so the number of birds is limited, even when full. As the seed empties, there are even fewer.

So this cone design is the best of the three types. The minor issues are that the slot/tabs that hold the top and bottom on are rather short. Thus, it's a bit too easy to unhook them by accident. Disaster if its the bottom and you just filled it. I can see how people get it assembled upside down. There are no instructions and you have to look closely to get the funnels correct. They should have the small ends pointing up.

I can't say anything about seed molding since I'm in a dry climate and it never lasts more than a day before being empty.

I had used those sock feeders and dealt with tons of seed spilling below. No more! This feeder attracted about 8 to 12 finches leaving very little wasted on the ground. 2 thumbs up!

Keeps the squirrels from destroying the feeder! - Amazon Review
Reviewer:

The squirrels, after many months of trying, have not been able to defeat the armor of this feeder. My only issue is that it is awkward to fill.
