Dish Style Hummingbird Feeders

Traditional Top Fill Feeders 221

We also have dish style top fill hummingbird feeders that are available in glass or plastic. They are one of the easiest to fill!

This style of feeder resembles a flat-style container that mimics a covered dish. They are super easy to use, just remove the top, pour in your nectar and put the top back into place – it’s ready to hang!

Plunger Style Hummingbird Feeders

Plunger Style Feeders 223

Unlike the other top fill styles, our plunger style feeders have a small plunger inside the container that creates a vacuum seal when the lid is tightened. When the lid is sealed correctly, the nectar begins to flow to the feeding ports.

Plunger style feeders take a little finesse; here are some tips to help you:

Before you fill your top-fill feeder with nectar and each time you clean your feeder it is important to do the following in order to prevent the feeder from having a possible leaking issue:

  1. Remove Feeder Lid
  2. Remove the O-ring (the rubber-type band located around the neck of the feeder opening - see photo). The O-ring will be white, clear or red in color.
  3. Lubricate the O-ring with common household vegetable oil, canola oil, etc. (this can be done by pouring a little oil on a paper towel and applying it to the O-ring or wetting your finger with vegetable oil and applying it to the O-ring).
  4. Place the O-ring back on the feeder and secure the cap.
