Perky-Pet® Carnival Glass Vintage Oriole Feeder

Perky-Pet® Carnival Glass Vintage Oriole Feeder

Offer your backyard orioles a sweet nectar treat with the stylish Perky-Pet® Carnival Glass Vintage Oriole Feeder. Featuring a shimmery orange luster finish, this antique-style feeder will be a charming addition to your backyard.

Wrap-around Perch - Orioles are often seen hanging out on tiny hummingbird feeders to get a taste of the nectar inside. However, hummingbirds are much smaller than orioles, and therefore, their feeders are smaller as well. It can be rather awkward and uncomfortable for orioles to drink from hummingbird feeders, so why not provide them with a feeder that’s made to accommodate them! The Carnival Glass Vintage Oriole Feeder features a unique circular wrap-around perch that offers plenty of room for orioles to comfortably sit and dine.

18 oz Capacity & 4 Feeding Ports – The 4 feeding ports on the brushed nickel base feature vibrant orange flowers with green leaves, resembling of the flowers orioles drink from in nature. The port openings are slightly larger than those of a hummingbird feeder to make room for an oriole’s larger beak and tongue. Holding up to 18 oz of nectar will come in handy when the orioles start flocking to this feeder! Use the attached metal hanger to place your oriole feeder in a location that’s easy for orioles flying by to see.

Convenient Wide Mouth Opening – The wide mouth nectar reservoir and base easily detach when it’s time for cleaning. Be sure to clean oriole nectar feeders at least twice a week to prevent mold from accumulating. You may need to clean more often in extremely hot conditions. When it’s time to refill, the wide mouth opening offers enough room, so filling is quick and mess-free.

Leaks! By britemar
Had feeder for a few weeks. I love the looks of it, but the design is very poor! Went to refill the bottle, & the part that holds the bottle in place, spins with the bottle. So, the base cannot be removed, rendering the feeder useless!!! It also has a slow leak through the base.

We appreciate the feedback and apologize for this experience. A few tips may provide a resolution.

Rinsing the base in hot water may loosen any sticky nectar that may be holding on. We recommend cleaning a hummingbird feeder at least twice a week, more in hotter weather.

A slow leak can often occur in hot weather. When the nectar heats up, the vacuum inside forces the nectar out as it expands. We suggest providing shade for our feeders or removing temporarily if the weather is very hot.

Very poor design By Linted
This feeder is very attractive but virtually useless. It is impossible to fill the feeder without losing more than half the sugar syrup. I returned the first feeder but the second one was exactly the same. There is no gasket between the two parts of the base allowing all the liquid to leak out. Definitely a design flaw that renders the product useless.

A funnel can be used to fill feeders with smaller necks such as this model. After threading the base on firmly to the bottle, turn the feeder upright quickly. This creates a stronger vacuum seal to prevent leaking.

Didn\'t work for the Orioles. By mak6240
The Orioles didn't visit the feeder once - just the bees, who worked their way through the holes and died by the hundreds. Can't figure out why.
Response From Perky-Pet®

Birds can take a few days or even weeks to get used to a new feeder. To deter bees that have found a feeder, we recommend removing the feeder for a few days until the bees find another food source and move along.

We hope this information is helpful and apologize for this unusual experience. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-PERKYPET (1-855-737-5973) for additional assistance.

Oriole vintage feeder By jbsmith
Bought it yesterday...It doesn't work.... after filling, one-third of the liquid leaks out when inverting the container. Then, once an oriole or other bird lands on the feeder, tilting it slightly, there is an air bubble & more liquid leaks out. As with a previous reviewer, the orioles are not using the flower holes for nectar as they don't appear to be able to access the liquid. Returning the item today!

I started buying perky products last year. Now that is the only brand I purchase. Bought feeders for several family members, now they buy perky pet items for there birds. The brand is made out of quality materials, that last for years NOT for a season. Always at a good price or on sale. I receive free shipping, due to always purchasing more than the required amount. Fast shipping, great service. Keep up the good work, myself and my birds THANK YOU!

Looks great! Doesn\'t work! By Mark
I bought this a week ago because I broke my plastic one and I thought it would look nice next to our glass Hummingbird feeder. It does look great, but the feeders design does't allow the liquid to rise high enough in the pan for the Orioles to reach it. I could see them stick their bills in and not get anything. So I checked the depth with a tooth pick and it was 3/4" from the flower. That's the approximate length of their bills.

If you want a yard decoration then it's fine. If you want to feed the Orioles then get something else. This won't do it.

Q.How on earth can this feeder be used without loosing all the nectar? When I turned it over after filling it, most of the nectar spilled out immediately, then when I tried to hang it, more spilled out, leaving only a few ounces left.

Once this feeder has been filled and bottle tightened to the base, we recommend walking with it upside down to the area where it is to be hung. Quickly flip the feeder over so that it is right-side up and a vacuum seal is formed. The feeder can then be carefully hung. It is very important to quickly flip the feeder as if it is done slowly, the nectar will pour out of the bottle and not create a proper vacuum seal.
