Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. What criteria should I use when selecting a hummingbird feeder?
A. Make sure it is one that will be easy to clean and fill, especially since you will need to clean the feeder every few days. If you are worried about bees and wasps or ants invading the feeder, purchase a hummingbird feeder with bee guards, such as the Perky-Pet model #203CP or ant guards, Perky-Pet model #242.
Q. How do I clean my hummingbird feeders?
A. Hummingbird feeders need to be cleaned every 1-2 weeks. Use hot water and a bottle brush, along with mild soap; be sure to rinse thoroughly. The Perky-Pet cleaning mop is specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning hummingbird feeders, and is very convenient to use. This cleaning mop can also be used on seed feeders and oriole feeders for those small, tight spaces that are difficult to reach.
Q. What is the importance of providing water for hummingbirds?
A. Hummingbirds need fresh, clean water just as much as they need nectar. Hummingbirds stay healthy by using water not just for drinking, but also bathing, cleaning their feathers and to remove parasites. Waterers are better options than bird baths because they provide hummingbirds with fresh, clean water that prevents dirt and debris from contaminating it. In hotter climates or seasons, providing water for hummingbirds makes it easy for them to have access to a water source and retain their energy.

Such a lovely accent.Such a lovely accent to my garden. It adds just enough color without appearing tacky at all. Now I just need to wait for the humming birds to arrive.

Best Hummingbird Feeder I Have PurchasedI have had many compliments on the beauty of this feeder. The hummingbirds love to perch on it and drink the nectar. I am more than happy with it and would recommend this feeder to anyone. I have already had one friend go to Home Depot after they left my house to buy one.

Pretty. Design flaw. The feeder is very pretty. But as the liquid in the base declines, it doesn't fill back up from the bottle. You'll have to tilt it on its side, and bubbles will rise from the base into the bottle indicating the base is filling back up again. Unfortunately the liquid spills everywhere when you're doing that. And it's not a pretty sight in the end. The spill attracts ants.

Hummingbird Feeder is very nice!I was drawn to this hummingbird feeder for two reasons: 1) its vintage look and 2) the fact that the glass is red and I wouldn't need to use any type of food dye in the nectar. It looks very nice in the yard. We placed one in both the back and front yards on shepherds hooks to keep it away from where the cats could have access. The hummingbirds love the feeder and we are watching them visit it frequently. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The one thing that I would do, if you hang it like we did, is to attach a piece of change to the piece you hang it from so it is easier to remove and clean and replace the nectar. Otherwise, nectar is spilling all over!

Color peels offThey are very nice looking, but the coloring is just glass paint and not colored glass. For the price, I would have expected colored glass. Color started peeling off the first week I had it. Pretty soon it will just be clear glass.

Hummingbirds wouldn't use itWe've had numerous feeders and we thought this would be an attractive addition to the front porch. Sure it's pretty, but the birds won't use it. They look but move on fairly quickly. Later, when I was trying to figure out why, I saw a review on a bird watcher site that talked about hummingbirds getting their feet caught in the little raised 'flower' petals. I took ours down immediately. I replaced it with the Perkey-Pet 8oz pinch waist feeder, which is also glass bottle but has a nice wide plastic base with perches. I'll fill this one with LED lights and use it as a garden lantern.
