We have the reservoir base on this feeder with the yellow bee guard ports in the center of each red flower but we have the glass bottle instead of the plastic. Believe us, the hummies are choosy about their feeders and they pick this reservoir's flowers over all our other hanging feeder styles and we don't know why they overwhelmingly prefer this one, even sharing a flower together sometimes. We have Los Angeles County Anna's and Allen's hummies sipping all day long. As for an ant moat -- we found it not a necessity as the Perky Pet AntGuard not only keeps the ants away, but the bees/wasps/flies stay away from the feeders without killing anything and it doesn't require refilling -- just hang and forget it the rest of the season. AntGuard is a safe deterrent if there are insect problems. The bees used to swarm our leaking old-style feeders but with the AntGuard hanging over this new feeder and the bee guard ports on this feeder, no more insect problems for the hummies -- hurray! And this is the first feeder we got that didn't leak either. A great economical investment that we and the hummies love.
