This is a set of three posts that gives a gentle shock to animals. Setup took about 20 minutes and the weekly deer lure is easy to replace.
We have roses in the flower beds in Northeast Florida. Unfortunately, deer love to eat the roses. After a total of 10 weeks, this product is still staying strong. Our roses are unfettered by the deer. Our neighbors down the street don't have as much luck, and they've tried everything. Now, they want to buy this product, also.
If you have a problem with wildlife, give this product a try. It works with the deer who, before, raided our flower beds.
Environmentally safe, won't hurt deer, and easy to set up June 12, 2012

I'm using Havahart 5250 Electronic Deer Repellent to keep deer from eating the tasty veggies in my garden. Set up is easy -- have yet to see them in action but I will add notes as the season unfolds. Check out my short video review for details.
Edit: July 15 -- Looks like these do work. We have a large garden and the veggies in the three corners where I had these in place are fine -- but last night the area where I don't have one got munched -- wiped out. Looks like I'm ordering another set to fully protect the entire garden.
Haven't Seen any Deer or Garden Damage January 18, 2012
Reviewer: R. Thomasson - via Amazon.com
Now, I have to admit that I have not staked out my vegetable garden with binoculars or electronic surveillance. I live on the Northern outskirts of a small town near the Kansas Nebraska border. Every year my vegtable garden ended up as a buffet for the deer that roam the area. After installing the three stakes of the Havahart 5250 Electronic Deer Repellent system I have had no more trouble. The access to the garden area is fairly narrow, so the three stakes are just a few feet apart (making it difficult for a full grown deer to pass through without brushing up against one. The proof is in the pudding. One whole growing season without any damage.
Not seen a deer all summer! June 16, 2011

I was skeptical, but I admit that I have seen no deer since I put them out 5 weeks ago. What an improvement that is to my big garden. These seem to work and work well. I may buy more if I don't see deer within the next couple of weeks. They seem to cover a wide area for me, 180 feet X 425 feet. I am amazed.

These take almost no time to put together but you must read the instructions carefully. You put cotton balls in the top and put a few drops of lure on them. Acorn lure is supplied and it doesn't smell bad so if you get it on your hands, you aren't a pariah for a day. There are loops of wire that mustn't touch or it wears out the battery so you have to be careful to set them correctly before you put the batteries in. Two AA batteries are required for each post and it takes 45 minutes to charge the first time. This is an important thing to know because you might figure it doesn't work, like my brother did when he put it together without the instructions! You can test them with a screwdriver and you get a spark. After discharge it takes only 15 minutes to recharge. I can't tell you how the deer like them because I haven't seen the deer, but my plants are left alone! Since they run on batteries, you don't have to have them at any set distance apart, just stick them wherever your precious plants are being attacked. Evidently the deer become complacent with the same lure scent so you get info on where to order other scents to rotate.

We've been using of these for several years now, they work great....remember to change the cotton balls in the top several times per season, depending on how much soaking rain you get, and also remember to add extra acorn scent that comes with the set several times per season, maybe once per week...the company is very thoughtful and helpful; I just called them to tell them that I misplaced the bottle of acorn scent; they're sending me out a few bottles free of charge!...awesome!......

If you are struggling with deer ruining your landscape, you will find this Electronic Deer Repellent very useful. I wasn't sure if they would work, but my husband and I installed them and we noticed a difference in a short amount of time. They were easy to install and are very effective. We were pleased.

Although I have been unable to see the deer getting shocked by this device it does appear to be working. I have a severe deer problem with them nibbling on just about everything I plant. I placed these by the plants that they seemed to like the most and it appears to be keeping them away from those plants. I only wish there was some king of a "counter" on these stakes to register how many "hits" there might have been. Without any way of knowing for sure I am only speculating on whether they are working or possibly the deer just moved on of their own accord. The stakes were easy to assemble and although the instructions were very brief I think they were sufficient for such a simple device. Only a review by a deer could be more objective.

Over the past few years, I've been replacing non-edible plants in my garden with edible varieties, and becoming increasingly puzzled as to why the my strawberry blossoms never matured (they'd simply vanish). My rose bushes, apple tree, lemon tree, and apricot tree were all being steadily consumed, and I realized the culprits were neighborhood deer. These deer are shy, and come around at night when I don't usually see them, and their eating habits change... so just when I think I can deal with them eating one kind of bush, they change their preferences and destroy another of my favorite plants. I have tried many approaches to repel the deer, including noise makers, dog fur, planting garlic and lavender "fences"... all to no avail.
Within the first day of using the Havahart Deer Repellant system, my young fruit trees were visibly thriving. The nightly attacks on fresh new leaves, flowers and fruit had stopped, and all the plants responded with vigorous growth. Most amazing of all, within a week I was able to pick ripe strawberries for the first time in years... and within two weeks my baby trees were twice as big as they'd ever been before. My irises, roses, rhododendrons are looking fabulous, too. What a difference the Havahart Deer Repellant system makes!
The directions for assembling the Havahart Deer Repellant sticks are clear and easy to follow. In just fifteen minutes I was able to unbox, assemble, scent, test, and place the units in my garden. This system requires weekly reapplication of the acorn-scented lure, and reapplication of the scent after rain in order to remain effective, which only takes a few minutes each week. The units can be tested by holding something metal that has an insulated handle, such as a screwdriver, next to the wires to make sure they work.
The Havahart Electronic Deer Repellant system is perfect for gardeners who have existing deer problems, who don't have very young children who might accidentally zap themselves on the devices. Since the repellant system works by initially attracting deer, it's ideal for gardens deer are already grazing and feasting in. This system is possibly the best deer repellant system for strawberry gardens, and other edible low-lying plants that can't so easily be protected by alternate means.
Snapping and Zapping - Deer are a running May 12, 2011

I was a little skeptical in setting these up in my garden but I followed the directions and loaded in the batteries and set them in the middle of my newly planted peppers and squash. The following day I went to find that the deer had visited my garden in the hopes of a midnight snack. Part of a green pepper plant right before the electronic repellent was eaten and I could see the ground near the repellent was dug into and it was moved over a bit, but no other plants were touched.
It's easy to load the batteries and acorn scent into the device. They come with cotton balls to load up the scent and they are tucked into little cavities under the charged wires atop the device. Just to test the system I touched one of the wires and felt nothing but when I touched one into another I received a nice shock that I'm sure scared away the deer that nibbled on my pepper plant!
So far I've been very impressed with the results and I've only had to reload the lure after recent rainfalls. The shock is not enough to hurt children, and just enough to scare away deer.
Deer be-gone! May 10, 2011

These are great! We live in a rural area and have had lots of deer in our yard, eating our garden and flowers. The roses are doing great, deer love roses. I will update throughout the summer. But so far so good. We live on one acre and it is all yard! 3 seem to work fine.
We still have roses! No sign of deer in our yard. I am totaly impressed with these!
This is the first year in 5 years of being in our home that we have not had a deer problem. We also put out a vegetable garden and one end is open, I put one at the oening, so far so good.
NOTE I did test them with an electric current tester and they were all active and working. Not sure how long the batteries will last but will test them throughout the summer and make sure they are working properly.
Couple of small issues September 08, 2014
I bought two boxes (3 items each). Easy to put together.
First box, instructions said to insert the cotton ball into the holder. There were no cotton balls. It was easy to find cotton in the house somewhere, but the implication was that there should have been cotton balls in the box. Two days later I used the second box, and found a package of such balls in the second box.
The picture on the box suggested that the bottle of scent had a small spout to help deliver the liquid to the cotton. However, the bottles of scent in each box that I received had no such spout, just a regular opening. I had to pour the scent onto the cotton, which was difficult and messy because the wires prevented the lip of the bottle from getting close. It would have been much easier and less messy if the bottles had a spout, as shown on the box. I would have used an eyedropper if I had one available.
Other than these irritations, the system seems to work well, and deer have not attacked the day-lily bed that the units have protected. So far, it is a great success.

The product seems to be working thus far. Deer activity in my yard has decreased significantly. I use the product in conjunction with deer netting for certain flowers and plants which also helps I'm sure, but the deer droppings and digging in flower beds that I once experienced have ceased completely since I started using the product.
